Frequently asked questions

Why do I have to click the toolbar button on each site?

myDev Kit asks for no access to your sites when you install it. Clicking its toolbar button gives it access to that one tab, until you leave the page. If you use a site every day, turn on “Always allow on this site” in the panel, and it reconnects there on its own.

Do I need an account or a password?

No password, ever. The free plan needs no account at all. When you buy a plan, your account is created from the email you give at checkout, and the extension unlocks as soon as you’re back from paying.

How do I unlock my plan on another computer or after reinstalling?

In the extension, choose Restore purchase, or open the billing page, and enter the email you paid with. We send a sign-in link; open it in that browser and the extension picks up your plan.

Does anything from the pages I inspect leave my browser?

Only in two cases, and only when you ask. An AI export sends the HTML and CSS of the component you selected. A report about a bad AI result sends what you see in the report form, after you press Send. Everything else stays in your browser. The privacy policy has the details.

Where is my Component Library stored?

In your browser, on this computer. Nothing you save is uploaded. Using the library on more than one computer is planned but not available yet.

Why do some saved components have no picture?

Chrome lets myDev Kit take a screenshot only right after you click its toolbar button on that page. If the tab reconnected on its own through “Always allow on this site”, the component is saved without a picture. Open the page, click the toolbar button, open the component in your library, and choose Retake thumbnail.

I retook a thumbnail and it shows a different element. Why?

Retake thumbnail finds the component again by the selector saved with it. If the site has been redesigned since you saved it, that selector can now point to a different element, or to nothing. The picture shows whatever it finds, so you can tell. Nothing else about the saved component changes: its code, name and source link stay as they were.

What happens to my library if I cancel Pro Dev?

You keep everything you saved, and you can still open, copy and export it. Saving new components needs Pro Dev again.

How are AI exports counted?

Pro Dev includes 300 AI exports a month, shared by AI React components and AI token cleanup. Asking again for exactly the same component is served from a cache and isn’t counted, and an export that fails doesn’t use one up. The count resets on the first of each month.

An AI export came out wrong. What can I do?

Under the result, choose Report a bad export, pick what’s wrong and add a note if you like. Before you send it, the form shows exactly what it will send: the component’s HTML and CSS, the AI’s answer, and your note. We keep reports for 30 days and use them only to improve exports. Reporting doesn’t use an AI export.
